Cutler secures second Honky Tonk

  • Honky-Tonk

Supperclub London founder Mark Cutler has secured a second site in London for his New York-inspired restaurant and bar brand, Honky Tonk.

Cutler, which is believed to have backing from a number of investors for the rollout of the brand, has taken an assignment of a 25-year lease on the 2,000sq ft The Underdog Bar in Clapham Common Southside, on a rent of £100k per year.

He opened the first Honky Tonk in London’s Little Chelsea at the end of 2011 in collaboration with bar and restaurant consultants the Cocktail Service.

Cutler is understood to be looking for A3/A4 sites between 1,500-3,000sq ft in size in high street and affluent areas in the capital, such as Soho, Noho, Covent Garden and Hoxton, for further locations for the brand.

The concept offers an American menu that takes its cues from Italian and deli influences.

The venue also hosts regular live music and entertainment, with a particular emphasis on a variation of the blues, jazz and rockabilly played over a hundred years ago when the first honky tonks sprung up in the Southern and Southwestern US.

David Rawlinson of Restaurant Property advised on the deal.
